"TO BE INSPIRED"
A phrase I've kept close to my heart since my journey began in 2004 and has stuck with me ever since.
Art has surrounded me all my life. My mother would paint and do plenty of arts and crafts projects; my sister loved party planning and wood burning portraits; I have cousins and friends who are gifted painters and comic book artists. I was anxious to find my fit into the art world somehow.
Without realizing, I've been an artist since I was 6 years old. I would doodle--mostly drawings of mermaids and fantasized short stories based on what I watched on television. As a teenager, thanks to the rise of the digital world in the 2000s, it was pixel art and sprits of my favorite comic and anime characters.
I dabbled with pixel art, photographic edits, retouching --without having any formal education.
It wasn't until I reached college that I began to gain formal training through figure drawing classes and film photography. I graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor's in art. I started my career in photography in 2014, through freelance and studio experience.
My specialities are in portrait photography, photo-editing, and illustrations--hand drawn or digital. My biggest artistic inspirations come from animated films and shows from my youth. As well as artists like Annie Leibovitz, Lois van Baarle, Glenn Keane, and the many talented people on social media.
My love for art, and photography, and pop culture needs to be in the same space because it all occupies my head and spirit. It’s my passion and drive. And it’ll continue to evolve, grow, and change. There'll always be something new to learn and redo over and over again. I pray that my journey will not end, because I will not stop trying.
